Who we are

On The Tech provides diagnostic, implementation and support services for trades businesses in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to reply to you and to run the service.

• When you save a Business System Check: your first name, business name, trade, service area, mobile number and/or email, preferred contact method, consent, attribution information, five function scores, supporting answers and commercial-fit answers.
• When you send an enquiry through the contact form: your name, business name, contact details and the message you send us.
• When you become a customer: the business, process, user and billing information needed to design, implement and support the agreed systems. The proposal identifies any additional supplier that will process your information.
• When you visit this site:basic technical information such as pages viewed and approximate region, used to understand what's working.

We do not ask for special category data through this website, and the Business System Check displays a result before contact details are requested.

Why we use it

• To save, review and reply about an assessment when you ask us to.
• To provide, run and support the systems agreed in a proposal.
• To administer payment and meet our accounting obligations.
• To understand which pages and channels bring people here.

Our lawful bases are your consent for optional assessment and enquiry contact, performance of a contract once you become a customer, legal obligations for accounting records, and our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your details, and we don't pass them to lead brokers.
• We don't add you to a marketing list because you saved an assessment.
• We don't share your enquiry with other tradespeople.

Who we share it with

For this website, the current suppliers are Vercel for hosting and cookieless analytics, Airtable for saved assessments and enquiries, Resend for internal notification emails, our scheduling tool for calls, and the messaging services you choose when contacting us. Customer proposals identify any additional delivery supplier before it is used.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't become customers: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Customer records: for the life of the contract and six years afterwards, for tax.
• Website analytics: retained in aggregate.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time. Ask and we'll action it within one month, free of charge.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to raise it with the UK's data protection regulator.
